The legislature will soon be taking action on the Governor's proposed cuts to close a $12.5 billion budget deficit.  There are drastic proposed cuts to many programs including IHSS, CalWORKS, SSI/SSP, MSSP, regional centers, Medi-Cal, and many, many more.  Decisions are made by those who "show up" and, more importantly, made by others when people don't.

“WE ARE HERE TO SPEAK FOR JUSTICE” – Parents and families over 40 years ago who came to the State Capitol to fight for community based services and the Lanterman Act – the only civil rights act for people with developmental disabilities in the nation.

The agendas for the February 3rd Assembly Budget Subcommittee #1 on Health and Human Services hearing on the Governor's proposed reductions to regional centers and other developmental services.  The Senate budget Subcommittee #3 on Health and Human Services hearing on the Governor's proposed cuts to In-Home Supportive Services, SSI/SSP individual grants and elimination of the Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) were released this morning.  Also, California Work Opportunities and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKS) hearing on February 2nd (Today!)

Governor Brown is scheduled to deliver the annual "State of the State" address Monday at 5:00PM.  Upcoming budget subcommittee hearings are critical as they provide the final opportunity for public testimony prior to action being taken in late February.

Governor is proposing over $1.5 billion in reductions to the CalWORKs program including narrowing of eligibility and 13% reduction in the maximum grants.
