SACRAMENTO, CALIF (CDCAN) [Updated 03/10/2010 07:40 AM (Pacific Time)] - The next phase of the long seemingly unending State budget process goes back into full swing next week, with Assembly and State Senate budget subcommittee hearings scheduled through early May to hear the Governor’s non-special session items contained in his proposed 2010-2011 State Budget. The Assembly Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services released late yesterday a schedule of subcommittee hearings (specific Assembly Budget Subcommittee hearing on Medi-Cal and other budget issues proposed by the Governor under the Department of Health Care Services have not yet been scheduled publicly)
Hearings and certain related legislative and state agency meeting – including an important stakeholder teleconference on In-Home Supportive Services by the Department of Social Services (scheduled for March 17th) and the California Health and Human Services Agency Olmstead Advisory Committee public meeting set for March 18th (that can also be accessed by toll free line), and a March 17th CDCAN Townhall Telemeeting on the proposed closure of Lanterman Developmental Center featuring the director and other senior officials from the Department of Developmental Services.

Senate Budget Subcommittee Schedule – Hearings To Begin This Month on Governor’s 2010-2011 Budget
SACRAMENTO, CALIF (CDCAN) [Updated 03/02/2010 05:40 AM (Pacific Time)] - With nearly all of the special session budget bills passed by the Legislature and sent to the Governor last week and on Monday, the next phase of the state budget process will begin with budget subcommittee hearing late next week and continue through mid-May.

After returning home in December, her condition was again critical due to serious complications that required last month a 10 day return to the hospital.
SACRAMENTO, CALIF (CDCAN) [Updated 02/04/2010 09:35 PM (Pacific Time)] - The focus of the Governor’s proposed special session major budget cuts that call for major cuts to Medi-Cal, including the elimination of Adult Day Health Care Centers, In-Home Supportive Services, SSI/SSP individual grants, regional centers, cuts to the mental health services act (Proposition 63) and Proposition 10 (children and families first commission) shifts next week to the Assembly Budget Subcommittees after hearings the last two weeks by the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee.
This bill requires a local education agency (LEA) to continue providing early intervention services to a child with exceptional needs between the ages of three and five years in a preschool program (if the child is no longer eligible for services under federal law), pending the resolution of a due process hearing, as specified.
This was returned to the Secretary of the Senate pursuant to Joint Rule 56.
Bills introduced in the first year of the regular session and passed by the house of origin on or before the January 31st constitutional deadline are "carryover bills." Immediately after January 31, bills introduced in the first year of the regular session that do not become "carryover bills" shall be returned to the Chief Clerk of the Assembly or Secretary of the Senate, respectively. Notwithstanding Rule 4, as used in this rule "bills" does not include constitutional amendments.
