Senator Dean Florez was born and raised in the Central Valley and has proudly represented the region in the State Legislature for nearly a decade. He was first elected to the State Assembly in 1998, serving two terms before being elected to the State Senate in 2002. Senator Florez was elevated to the position of Senate Majority Leader in November 2008, the Senate’s second most powerful position. As Senate Majority Leader Senator Florez is responsible for setting the Democratic agenda and the Senate’s Floor operations.

Danny Gilmore, a retired California Highway Patrol Assistant Chief, has served his country and his community with pride. That service began with his enlistment into the U.S. Marine Corps. in 1969. After assignments at Camp Pendleton, El Toro, and Okinawa, he received his honorable discharge and embarked upon an exemplary 31 year career with the California Highway Patrol.
Jean Fuller (R-Bakersfield) was elected to the California State Assembly in November 2006 to represent the 32nd Assembly District, which includes Bakersfield, Ridgecrest, Tehachapi, Taft, Kern River Valley, and the Frazier Mountain communities.
Connie Conway was elected to the California Assembly on Nov. 4, 2008 and began her first two-year term on Dec. 1, 2008.
Assemblyman Sam Blakeslee, R-San Luis Obispo, was elected to the California State Assembly in 2004 to represent the 33rd Assembly District, which includes the coastal communities of Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo, Lompoc, Atascadero, Paso Robles, Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, and Guadalupe. He was re-elected by overwhelming margins in 2006 and 2008.
