Assemblymember Marty Block was elected in November 2008 to represent the 78th District, one of the most diverse districts in the county of San Diego including the cities and communities of San Diego, Chula Vista, Bonita, Lemon Grove, and Spring Valley. Shortly thereafter, he was appointed by Speaker Bass to the Assembly Leadership as the Assistant Majority Whip.

Assemblywoman Julia Brownley serves as Chairwoman of the Education Committee, bringing a rich understanding of educational issues gleaned during her 12 years on the board of education of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, including three terms as board president.

Assemblymember Paul Fong (D-Cupertino) grew up in Sunnyvale and was elected as the representative of the 22nd Assembly District in 2008. His district, located in the southern Bay Area, is made up of Cupertino, Mountain View, Sunnyvale and portions of Santa Clara County, Santa Clara and San Jose.

Assemblymember Warren Furutani was first elected in a special election to the 55th District in February 2008 and re-elected in the same year to his first full two-year term. He represents the cities of Carson, Lakewood, (North and West) Long Beach, and the Los Angeles communities of Harbor City, the Harbor Gateway and Wilmington.

Ted Gaines represents the people of the 4th Assembly District, taking in all or parts of Alpine, Placer, El Dorado and Sacramento County.

Assemblymember Isadore Hall, III was elected in November 2008 to represent the 52nd Assembly District that includes Compton, North Long Beach, Paramount, Rancho Dominguez, South Los Angeles, Watts and Willowbrook. Within days of taking office, Hall was appointed to Speaker Karen Bass’ leadership team and currently serves as Assistant Speaker pro Tempore, the third highest ranking member of the California State Assembly.

In November 2008, Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley) was elected to represent the Bay Area’s 14th Assembly District. The district includes Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Emeryville, Kensington, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, Pleasant Hill, Richmond, San Pablo and parts of Oakland and El Sobrante.

Assemblymember Tom Torlakson represents California's 11th Assembly District, which includes the northern half of Contra Costa County.

Assemblyman Van Tran was elected to the California State Assembly in November 2004. He represents the 68th Assembly District in Orange County, including the cities of Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Newport Beach, Stanton, and Westminster.
