Denise Moreno Ducheny has served in the California State Senate since November 5, 2002, representing the 40th District which includes portions of San Diego and Riverside Counties and all of Imperial County. Senator Ducheny chairs the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee, the Joint Legislative Budget Committee, the Select Committees on California-Mexico Cooperation and the Colorado River. She is a member of the Senate Public Employment and Retirement Committee and the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee. She is also Vice Chair of the Border Legislative Conference, a binational forum of state legislators from the 10 U.S.-Mexico Border states sponsored by the Council of State Governments.

On December 4th, 2006 Alex Padilla was sworn in as a member of the California State Senate representing the 20th District. For his first two years, Padilla served on the powerful Senate Rules Committee which confirms gubernatorial appointments and refers all bills in the Senate. In December 2008, Senator Padilla was named Chair of the Senate Energy, Utilities and Communications Committee. The committee hears all bills relating to utilities, energy companies, alternative energy development and conservation, and communications development and technology.
Joe Simitian was elected to the California State Senate in November 2004 to represent the 11th State Senate District, which includes portions of San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. His public service over the years includes stints as a State Assemblymember, member of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, Mayor of Palo Alto and President of the Palo Alto School Board. He has also served as an election observer/supervisor in El Salvador and Bosnia, and participated in refugee relief and resettlement efforts in Albania and Kosovo.
