We will at 10 AM, after marching around Capitol, go into the building to Room 4203 to attend public hearing by State Treasurer Bill Lockyer and the Governor’s Department of Finance Director Mike Genest. That hearing will end at 1:30 PM – and public comment will be taken up to that time.

- REMEMBERING LIVES THAT MATTER - Like the protests held earlier this year, this demonstration is being held in memory of our friends Joan Lee, Sacramento Gray Panther (passed away last August) and Donald Roberts, disability advocate and People First Member (passed away January 11).
- WHAT TO BRING: signs, pictures of loved ones impacted. You will have to leave posters outside the Capitol before going into the hearing room.
- WHAT TO WEAR: dress warmly and bring an umbrella (just in case) or other protection from possible rain. Also, people may want to consider NOT wearing the same types of t-shirts (whether identifying a union, provider group, regional center or whatever) but show up as you would if you were going to work, because that will help show all of us as individuals. As mothers, fathers, grandparents, children, brothers and sisters, - people in the community. We need to show the State that this is about individual rights – and that none of us as individuals will be made invisible simply because of a bad budget situation or a bad economy. We have a right to be a part of the recovery of this state and nation – not just AIG, not just the banks or car makers.
- WHO SHOULD COME: Everyone – we are one community fighting for our rights – and against cuts that harm any of us. People with disabilities, mental health needs, seniors and their families, low income children and their families, community organizations, facilities, workers who provide supports and services and advocacy. Join people with disabilities, families, IHSS and other workers , other senior and disability advocacy groups and organizations in this action.
