CDCAN: ACCOUNTABILITY WITH ACTION
Protesting Cuts at State Capitol in December 2003: People protesting in rally at State Capitol in December 2003 organized by CDCAN - Over 4,500 people showed up.A different approach to advocacy that focuses priority, accountability and action on the individual needs and issues in the communities of people with disabilities, mental health needs, seniors, their families and others, community organizations, facilities and individual workers who provide supports and services that solves real problems and in turn, creates the movement toward real change. Decisions are made by those who “show up” – and also are made by others when people don’t. We need to learn how to “show up” in a different way that takes back our government so it will be accountable and represent and fight for us – instead of hurting or fighting against us.
