Senator Fran Pavley represents the 23rd Senate District, which includes the cities of Agoura Hills, Beverly Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Malibu, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Santa Monica, West Hollywood and Westlake Village, as well as several communities in the City of Los Angeles, including Bel Air, Beverly-Fairfax, Beverly Glen Canyon, Brentwood, Canoga Park, Century City, Chatsworth, Encino, Hollywood, Mt. Olympus, Pacific Palisades, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Tarzana, Topanga, West Los Angeles, West Hills, Westwood and Woodland Hills.

The scenic 23rd District includes great swaths of the Santa Monica Mountains from the coastal areas on the south to the San Fernando Valley on the North, and from Hollywood all the way up to Oxnard and Port Hueneme. According to the most recent census, the district’s population is 846,790 persons, with 485,186 registered voters.

A number of renowned educational institutions are located in the 23rd District, including the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), California State University, Channel Islands, Oxnard College, Pepperdine University, Pierce College, Santa Monica College and the University of Judaism. The 23rd District’s diverse cultural attractions are destinations in themselves, including the Getty Center and the separate Getty Villa on the coast, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Carnegie Art Museum, the Peterson Automotive Museum, the Murphy Auto Museum, the Museum of Television and Radio, the Santa Monica Museum of Art, the Ventura County Maritime Museum, and more than one hundred art galleries.

The 23rd District is also a destination for recreation and entertainment. Its attractions include a fifty mile string of beautiful beaches, Universal City, with its City Walk and Amphitheatre, the historic Farmer’s Market, the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, the Santa Monica Pier, and the Centennial Plaza in Downtown Oxnard, to name a few.

The 23rd District also boasts a rich assortment of natural resources and public parklands, including the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, Will Rogers State Park, Channel Islands National Park, Malibu Creek State Park, Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy parklands and trails, Topanga State Park, over 50 miles of beaches and coastline, and many county and city parks. The 23rd Senate District is also home to the headquarters of the U.S. Naval Construction Battalion Center (USNCBC), home of the Navy's "Pacific Seabees." Naval Base Ventura County is located in Port Hueneme and Point Mugu. Port Hueneme is also home to the largest commercial deep-water harbor between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
